When I moved to Astoria, random, glib strangers joked about the weather. "I hope you like rain!" I scoffed and shook my head at such nonsense. Now I understand. It is an entirely different sort of rain. It rains as frequently here as in PDX, but add to that 40 mph winds and an average of 67.26 inches of rainfall per year vs Portland's 44 inches. Yeah, that's more. Let's talk about this year though. It has rained 168 days since October 1st. 1. 6. 8. WHAT?!!! And, we are at over 80 inches.
I quickly realized after my move that my heavy-duty rain gear was obsolete, and I would have to invest in some fisherman-Bering-Sea-like-shit to weather these damn typhoons. Seriously, there was a typhoon the 2nd weekend of me living here. However, the hunting out here is sooooo good! And by hunting, I mean mushies, rocks, bones, antlers, shells, and catch-and-release critters 'cuz mama don't kill no animals. No, no.
